It is, sadly, not unusual to find parents re-entering care proceedings in respect of subsequent children. However, in this case it appears a 40 year old mother had a total of 10 children removed from her care over a period of 10 years.
Whilst it is inevitable that in some cases parents will never be able to evidence sufficient change, there is also an argument that without proper support services and work being put in place with young parents after the conclusion of care proceedings, the cycle of children being removed and court proceedings will not stop.
Three boys aged between five and nine were taken in by social services amid concerns over substance abuse, violence and neglect, a family court in Bournemouth heard. The mother had seven children taken from her for similar reasons in 2006. Some have been adopted, some placed into foster care and some placed with relatives, the court heard.
