Cafcass have reported that last month they saw a 11% increase in private children cases.
Issuing an application at court is not the only way of resolving children matters.
Mediation is a voluntary and confidential process designed to resolve personal disputes using a neutral third party "the mediator" to facilitate an agreement. Mediators are trained to help resolve disputes over all issues faced by separating couples, or specific issues such as arrangements for any children.
It is usually far faster and cheaper than opting for court.
Mediation is tailored to your needs, concerns and interests rather than simply a legal answer. A mediator will help both parties work towards a mutually satisfactory outcome. The mediator does not judge or impose a solution but ensures that any settlement is agreed by the parties.
Mediators are neutral and will not take sides, so they cannot give advice to either of you. They will usually recommend that you obtain legal advice alongside the mediation process and will guide you as to when this should happen.
Wouldn't you rather be assisted by a mediator to make your own decisions as to your (and your child(ren)'s) future than have them imposed by the court?
- If you are considering divorce or separation
- If you wish to move to another country with your child
- If you are involved in court proceedings........
